from the Asbury Park Historical Society:
The Asbury Park Historical Society is urging its supporters to attend this event. Wesley Lake is an important link between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove: two very historically-linked communities. It has also provided many practical and entertainment boating experiences over the years: from passenger ferry boats in the late 1880s to the miniature motorboats, the Steam Boat, and the famous Swan Boat. The two pedestrian bridges over the lake provide a vital link between the two historic communities. Preserving the lake is a great asset to both Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. Almost all of the coastal lakes in New Jersey are experiencing problems now-a-days and Wesley Lake is one of them. Please try to attend. Plus, I pretty much guarantee you will have a good time!
